Question 1

How much does a solar installation actually cost?

Accepted Answer

Our domestic installations start from £4,320 fully fitted. That from-price is a fitted system — panels, mounting hardware, the inverter, electrical installation to BS 7671, commissioning, and the network notification to SP Energy Networks — not a panels-only headline. Every quote is fixed and itemised after a free survey.

Question 2

Do I pay VAT on solar panels or a battery?

Accepted Answer

No. Residential solar and battery installations carry 0% VAT, and that rate runs until at least March 2027. It applies automatically to every residential installation.

Question 3

What moves the price up or down?

Accepted Answer

Panel count is the biggest single factor — more generation means more hardware and labour. After that: roof type and access (slate needs more careful fixing than concrete tile, and awkward access can add scaffolding), inverter choice (a hybrid costs more now but saves a replacement later if a battery is on your horizon), and whether the system is roof or ground mounted.

Question 4

What would a typical property pay?

Accepted Answer

Treat these as orientation rather than quotes. A two-bed terrace is usually around 6 panels at 2.5kW, near the £4,320 starting price. A three-bed semi is typically 9 to 10 panels at 4kW, in the mid single-figure thousands fitted. A detached house or farmhouse is usually 12+ panels and often a battery. Commercial units are designed and priced to the building after a survey.

Question 5

How long before solar pays for itself?

Accepted Answer

Most North Wales installations return their cost in around 7 to 10 years. Your own figure depends on your roof, your usage and whether you add a battery.

Question 6

Is a battery worth adding?

Accepted Answer

For evening-heavy households it changes the economics more than any other choice, lifting the share of your own power you actually use to roughly 70 to 80%. If you already have panels, a battery can be retrofitted — including where you need to keep an existing FIT payment intact. We will tell you honestly if it would not pay for itself.

Question 7

Which battery brands do you fit?

Accepted Answer

SigenStor and Sigenergy, Tesla Powerwall, FoxESS, Victron, Fogstar and GivEnergy. We have direct relationships with major suppliers, which is how we keep prices competitive on market-leading brands.

Question 8

Do you install heat pumps as well?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Air-to-water heat pumps transfer heat from the outside air to water for your heating and hot water. Air-to-air systems give you heating and cooling from the same unit, all year round. We also service heat pumps, including systems we did not install.

Question 9

Do you charge for a survey or a quote?

Accepted Answer

No. Surveys are free and carry no obligation. We do not employ high-pressure salespeople — you speak directly with one of our installers about your requirements, and you get honest advice whether or not you choose to work with us.

Question 10

What areas do you cover?

Accepted Answer

We are based in Deeside and work across North Wales, Cheshire and the Wirral — including Chester, Flintshire, Wrexham, Conwy, Rhyl, Anglesey, Bangor, Ellesmere Port, Runcorn, Buckley and Connah's Quay. We also work further afield, so it is worth asking.

Question 11

Are you accredited?

Accepted Answer

We are a Which? Trusted Trader and an Octopus Trusted Partner, and we are accredited by the UK's leading compliance and regulatory organisations. All electrical work is installed to BS 7671 wiring regulations, and you receive a Building Compliance Certificate on completion.

Question 12

Can you integrate this with a smart home setup?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it is something we specialise in — we work with customers who want their solar, battery and heating integrated with a smart home system, including Home Assistant.
